Towards the end of last year I got to photograph the most "in-love" couple I have ever met. The week before the wedding I met Claire and John for a run through at their gorgeous venue and already then had such a sense of immense love. To say this was only the tip of the iceberg would be an understatement. One of the reasons I so love photographing weddings is being able to see people at their most courageous and most vulnerable. Weddings bring out the best and the worst and the most beautiful in people... While you can try hide your emotions it's easier, on a day like this day, to just bear all. This post is a long one, I loved every moment of the Crabb wedding and while I may be a little "out of it" - I just couldn't choose my favourites! Special thank you to my most amazing second shooter at the Crabb wedding: Dane Turvey.

Model: Dayna Crichton Venue: Haycroft Farm Stylist: Cayleigh Beyers Hair: Kristi Wood of Hairby Kristi Eyelashes: Tarryn Wood of i-beauti lashes Makeup: Clair Strang of Ammara Dayna won a competition that myself and several suppliers ran early last year. Due to personal circumstances the original make-up artist had to pull out of participating with us. Lucky for us, Clair Strang, owner of Ammara, was available and totally willing to jump right in and get involved. We got together one fine day in August and photographed this most beautiful girl looking her absolute best thanks to some really amazing industry professionals. I am so thankful to these incredible women and their understanding in waiting for these images. While they have been edited for a while, with everything we have been going through as a family we just have not had the time to just sit and compose the social media and blog posts that they so deserve. SO... I hope to make it up to them! See links to their respective profiles above! Super special thank you to my girls: to Tarryn for Dayna's gorgeous lashes. Tarryn is incredible at her craft and you will leave her rooms feeling like a million bucks. To Kristi for pulling off several gorgeous hair styles on the day. You're such a talented hair stylist and your involvement in the shoot was immeasurable with your valuable input and styling! Clair, my little saviour who filled in at the last moment! Thank you for doing the most beautiful make-up for Dayna. You are incredibly talented! And Cayleigh - my special friend who has the wonderful gift of styling models and making them feel completely at ease and comfortable! You are all so wonderful! I cannot thank you enough.

In April I had the privilege of photographing the Schiever wedding. Lizzy and Tuppy tied the knot at the Midlands venue, Waterwoods. Given the time of year, a thick mist rolled in at a rapid rate cutting our creative photography opportunities in half somewhat. Nevertheless, the bride and groom were an impeccable subject and we managed to utilise a few visible backdrops closer to home.
We're currently venue scouting for our Tsonga Winter campaign and the lovely Avril, from Inner Harmony, joined me for a day on the Midlands looking at pretty backdrops and settings. What fun we had exploring and taking lots of photographs.
Good morning lovelies. A blog post is long overdue - I know. I've had a lot on the go, including resigning from my position as creative design coordinator at SHF and taking up a position as the marketing coordinator for Corrida Shoes. I start my new J.O.B on Monday. I am so looking forward to this new challenge and rejoining the Tsonga family.
We photographed the Van Erk wedding in March. Leigh and Vince were married at Old Halliwell in the Midlands and it was nothing short of perfection. Understated decor has a great appeal for me, and their personal touch in every facet of their wedding day was something really special. I love sentimental as you know. As always, huge thanks to my wonderful friend, and second shooter, Hilda. Please feel free to leave a message of congrats to the gorgeous bride and groom. The Leitch wedding was my first wedding of the 2016 season, as well as the first wedding since Harrison was born. Photographing this whimsical couple from Cape Town was such a joy and took my mind off my first day away from my precious son, Harrison. Nat and Don were wed on the picturesque Haycroft Farm, a new and stunning wedding venue literally on my backdoor step. The lake, the trees, the fresh air and the blue sky made a beautiful backdrop for their special day.
Nobody can prepare you for motherhood. Scratch that. Nobody can prepare you for parenthood full stop. I'm not referencing the sleepless nights and the tummy aches and the painful "rooting" (teeth moving underneath his gummies)... I'm purely talking about the all encompassing consumption that is being a parent. It consumes you in the best ways! I cannot stop thinking about Harrison when I am not near him. I can't stop cuddling him, and kissing him when I am near him. I just want to spend every waking moment with him! You will all have seen my post about Harrison a few months ago where I introduced our little guy to all of you. Well, it still holds that for every reason I have been quiet is because I am wholly devoted to my monster and he is a delicious distraction at the best and worst of times as hard as I try and focus.
Last weekend we spent some time in Underberg at Pennygum Cottages - the place where Row proposed to me and set everything in motion for the life we now live with Harrison being part of it. They had a pretty patch of cosmos growing in their garden and if you follow me on Instagram you will have seen several posts of us enjoying being surrounded by the flowers. In three sleeps our little angel will be 5 months old and yes you can believe it - the best 5 months of our lives! They have honestly been nothing but sheer joy, even with a few sleepless nights. |
