In South Africa we don't necessarily have a "thanksgiving" day like the Americans... Some trendsetters use this date as an excuse to throw a dinner party with friends and give thanks I guess... but like many other South Africans, we use today, Christmas day, to share our thanks with those who've touched our lives! For me, as we spoil our loved ones, I can't help but realise how blessed I am and am forced to take stock of everything that's happened throughout the year.
This year we were part of many weddings and I am always blown away by how quickly I become wrapped up into the family and friends tie. From each of the weddings I have photographed I have gained friendships that will last a lifetime and for this I am truly grateful. I don't want to say "thank you to all my clients" as I have never for a second felt it so. I would therefore rather say thank you to the friends I have made - for your support and encouragement and continual inclusion of me in so many facets of your lives. I am honoured and blessed beyond measure. I hope that your Christmas is filled with much love and laughter, and pretty Christmas lights! One of my biggest blessings of this year was the birth of our baby boy, Harrison. For most of you, I will have photographed your wedding as a preggy fairy and I guess I owe you a special thanks as well for the understanding and patience in dealing with my preggy porridge brain! Luckily my symptoms weren't as severe as others I've heard of but in the minor instances where the baby bump overshadowed all rational thought and reason, thank you for putting up with me! Much love, Candice (and Rowan and Harrison).
