If there is one thing I will never forget, it's the calmness of Gerty on her wedding day. That could be a song title: "The calmness of Gerty". There was just nothing on this earth that could have wavered her wedding day calmness. Not a single thing. If there were any butterflies flying out of formation, it was nothing anyone picked up on. This day was all about saying "I do" and finally being married to the man of her dreams - her calm and sweet smile was contagious.
Gerty and Ian were married on their family farm in Colenso. The weather was seemingly dismal with one major shower but only to clear for the most perfect outdoor wedding setting. It was my first experience of a pastor requesting that I don't take photographs during the ceremony up until the rings on fingers part - but I snuck around the outskirts and hid behind trees to get the photographs I could without being a distraction. If anyone noticed it was totally worth it. Please feel free to send well wishes to the bride and groom in the comments below.
