You may have already seen it on my facebook page (what feels like ages ago) but we spent an incredible five days in Cape Town at the beginning of May. So it's old news but Cape Town truly is what everyone says: "a little bit of overseas in our own country". Cape Town is nothing like I could have ever imagined yet it is everything I imagined and more. I put it to friends to suggest cool things to do whilst we were there and boy did we get bombarded with itinerary options galore. Who needs travel agents? You just have to ask your friends! The above image is the moment I first set eyes on Cape Town from the aeroplane. Beautiful! We were honestly spoilt for choice in terms of what to do and what to see so we decided to narrow down the options by highlighting the main touristy things to do first! We flew to Cape Town early Thursday morning and got straight to the sight seeing. Day 01 Upon arrival we raced to the baggage carousel, collected our luggage, rushed to First Car Rental and picked up our ride for our holiday in Cape Town. I just want to go back! The more I look through our photographs the more I just want to post them all. But I won't. I'll stick to the basics of what we did and include photographs respectively. Some stops on day one included: Muizenberg, Fish Hoek, Simons Town, Hout Bay and World of Birds, up Chapmans Peak and a short stop at Clifton Beach. We checked in at our hotel: Hotel Graeme and ventured down to the V&A Waterfront for some supper on the harbour. Day 02 Early morning breakfast at the hotel then a day trip exploring Table Mountain, local Cape Town coffee roasters, and a ferry across to Robben Island Museum. Day 03 Today we hit the Old Biscuit Mill for the Neighbourgoods market. It was so worth it! Loved all the stores. Had no idea what to buy so left empty handed. Unfortunately I can't just buy things on impulse. We decided to visit a few more coffee roasters: Rosetta Coffee and Truth Coffee. We visited Boulders Beach and the precious penguins. Hitched a ride up the funicular to the beautiful Cape Point then enjoyed a lunch at the Two Oceans restaurant. We took the scenic route home and ended up racing against the sun to catch the Signal Hill sunset which we missed by a minute or two but still managed to get some beautiful photographs. We enjoyed dinner at Hudsons with our cousin Jared: the most scrumptious burgers with Jack Black Beer and a sinful Milkshake takeaway. Day 4 and 5 On our fourth day in Cape Town, the heavens burst open and we were set in for a rather miserable day. We decided to go ahead and keep to our plan of exploring Stellenbosch and all the pretty wine farms. Whilst there wasn't much open we still managed to enjoy a stop at the Moreson farm (Miss Molly wine and flowers). Our best stop was at Muratie for some port tasting (yes, we paired it with chocolates). Enjoyed some cheese tasting at Fairview then met some old friends at the cool Route 44 Market for some lunch and coffee. We spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying a chocolate and wine tasting at Spier Wine Farm. On our last day we visited a few more coffee roasters: Origin Coffee and Legado Coffee. We also visited the cool JC Le Roux for Methode de cap Classique and chocolate tasting. We missed our chance for lunch at Fairview the day before so we made damn sure we had a booking on our last day. We then visited the new Spice Route for CBC beer tasting and DV Chocolate Tasting. Then it was a very sad farewell to Cape Town but we enjoyed Lime Milkshakes at the airport before boarding.
