It is with great sadness that we sit here writing these horrific words. My last blog featured Avril and Mike's engagement shoot on their family farm out in Eston called Little Harmony. That was little over a month ago and it was fast to become the most fun I have ever had on a shoot. Last Friday, dear Mike, was suddenly, and tragically, taken from us. Our hearts are broken at the loss of such a kind and beautiful soul. We left their farm just a month ago feeling like long lost pals and now we feel a terrible emptiness as Mike no longer walks the earth with us. The world was a far better place with Mike. In the time we got to know him we learnt of his amazing and infinite love for his precious Avril. The loss has rippled into every person he has ever come into contact with. No words could take away the pain and suffering from those who know him and love him dearly. The space left here with us will never be filled and whilst we all know God's plan is at play, we cannot rationalise exactly why this had to happen. All we can muster right now is a simple "I'm so sorry for your loss", and all we want to do is take away all the pain.
Mike, as is testament by the words of family and friends in reaction to his passing, most undeservedly passed away last week. He will forever be celebrated as the happiest and warmest friend around. We were so lucky to have met Mike and he will always serve as a reminder to make the most of the time we are given on this earth... Most of all to love, and to do so with all your heart and soul as he so assuredly did in loving Avril. Together with Avril, and the Marwick and Karlsen families, we all say: We love you to heaven and back.
